If you’re like most people, then you probably have never had a butt facial. In fact, you may have never even heard of a butt facial. Most people don’t ask for butt facials due to feeling strange or embarrassed. It also doesn’t help that spas rarely offer them as they think there is no need for them. Some may even be uncomfortable with the process.

I think this is backward. By surface area, the butt has more skin than your face. Sitting and sweating on your butt all day long takes a toll. It can lead to unpleasant cases of buttne, also known as folliculitis. When it comes time for beach season, a long winter of sitting and sweating may make you feel self conscious about flaunting your bottom. That’s why I think you should get a butt facial (and a butt mask while you’re at it). The butt is the new face. It’s time you start treating your butt with the TLC it deserves.

How Does a Butt Facial Work?

There are several factors that are considered when you get a butt facial. Like the skin on your face, the skin on your butt is prone to dryness, flakiness, loss of elasticity, firmness and inflammation. The practitioner of your facial is going to take into account all of these factors and then begin treatment. Alina, of Skin by Alina, likes pinching. She uses a special soft exfoliate like powder that pinches the skin. This stimulates blood flow which plumps the skin. Research suggests that cellulite is linked to poor circulation to your butt. Butt facials can also include cryotherapy, oxygen, ultraviolet lights and glycolic acid treatments. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliator and perfect for removing dead skin cells on the butt that can cause unpleasant buttne. After the appropriate technique has been applied and the treatment is over, the next stage is a gentle massage and a mask followed by another mask if necessary then completed with a moisturizer.

What is Used During a Butt Facial?

What is used during your facial treatment is really dependent on your individual needs. Personally I like to do my cryotherapy few times a week. If buttne is your biggest problem, you get those chicken skin patterns, then you may only need a monthly exfoliation session. This will work to get rid of any clogged pores on your butt caused by the sweat and dead skin cells that accumulates when you sit for long periods of time.

Why should people get a butt facial?

Why shouldn’t we? Butt is the new face and we need to address its needs to keep our butt skin ageless and smooth. Someone once told me it is not always about the look but it is also about the feel and self love is about touch and loving your body! Plus, when you hit the beach this summer, you will be filled with confidence. Your butt will look fresh and smooth.

How to Take Care of Your Butt at Home

The TLC your butt requires can happen more than just at a salon or spa. You can take care of your butt at home in proactive and preventive ways. Proactively, you can use a butt mask at home. I created Bawdy as a means for people to be able to exfoliate and plump the skin of the butt from the comfort of their home. There are 4 types that can match the different needs of your butt. The practitioner of your butt facial may even help you decide which mask you need most.

Preventatively, you can do many things to make sure the skin on your butt stays fresh and bump free. One easy way is to make sure you are always showering as soon as possible after sweating. Too many people pass time while in their work out clothes. For a sensitive area like the butt, it is detrimental for the skin. The sweat is trapped on the surface of the skin and leads to pores getting infected and inflamed. What you wear also has an effect. Clothing like yoga pants trap moisture and make it more likely to get bumps. Cotton clothing breathes easier and is usually better for your butt skin.
